Nancy Pelosi revealed recently that she and Biden had not spoken since the latter dropped out of his race.

In an interview with CBS News on Sunday, President Biden gave some additional insight as to why he had dropped out of his presidential campaign. He said that his Democratic colleagues warned him that his campaign could hurt other members of his party who were lower down the ballot.

“A number my Democratic colleagues from the House and Senate believed that I would hurt them in their races. “I was worried that if I continued to run, this would be the subject, and you’d interview me about why Nancy Pelosi said – why did – I thought it would be a distraction,” Biden told CBS News Bob Costa.

Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race at the end July and endorsed Vice President Harris immediately. Biden was reportedly asked to leave the presidential race in private by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer in the weeks after his first debate against Donald Trump.

Biden said, “The polls showed it was a close race. It would have come down to the wire.”

Pelosi revealed recently that she and Biden had not spoken since Biden dropped out of his race.

She continues to deny that she ever told the president to quit. In a recent press interview, she told reporters that the president did not have a clear path to victory.

“Now, I really wanted a better campaign. We didn’t have a campaign on the road to victory. Pelosi said that members knew this in their districts.

“When I first ran, I thought I was a transitional president. I don’t know how old I am. I can’t get my words out. It didn’t happen because things moved so fast. It was the combination of both that made me think it was still a serious issue. Maintaining this democracy is not a joke,” Biden stated during the interview.

Pelosi, who had told his Democratic colleagues that he would remain in the race after telling them he would, joined hosts of MSNBC “Morning Joe”, one of President Obama’s favorite news shows, and said his decision wasn’t final.

It’s up the President to decide whether he will run. Pelosi said to MSNBC that she was encouraging the president to make a decision because “time is running out”.

Pelosi said it was not her intention to place him on the spot in her interview with “Morning Joe,” according to reports. However, she acknowledged that the conversation about whether he should replace on the ticket had been reopened.

Pelosi recently told Washington Post reporters that “he may think my statement unleashed some thing — I don’t really know because I haven’t spoken to him in a while.”
