The moderators of ABC News, Linsey Davies and David Muir, intervened at least seven different times during the Tuesday night presidential debate in order to “fact-check Donald Trump”, but did not do so with Vice President Kamalah Harris.

The fact-checks they did were often incorrect or incomplete. The following are seven of the most obvious examples (quotes from the ABC News transcript).

LINSEY DAVIS : In this country, it is illegal to kill a newborn baby. Madam vice-president, I would like to hear your response to president Trump.

DAVID MUIIR: Just to be clear, I want to clarify that you mention Springfield, Ohio. ABC News reached out to the city manager in Springfield, Ohio. He said there were no credible reports about pets being injured, abused or hurt by immigrants.

DAVID MUIIR: Thank you, Mr. President. Vice President Harris: You heard the president tonight. He claimed that he did not say he had lost by a hair. He still thinks he didn’t lose the election. You and President Biden won that.

DAVID MUIR : Thank you, President Trump. You brought up a point, saying that she had gone to Vladimir Putin to negotiate. Vice President Harris: Have you ever met Vladimir Putin?

Harris used many hoaxes, including the Charlottesville “very nice people” hoax. Neither Davis nor Muir intervened. The “fact-checking’ was only in one direction.
