According to a report in the Times on Monday citing an informed source, Iran may consider smuggling Hezbollah weapons via air into Lebanon, since its previous overland routes to Syria are no longer feasible.

Sources cite the West as “concerned” that Iran lost Damascus, its main airport for smuggling in the region. It is now trying to make Beirut Airport its new logistics hub.

Sources also noted that “this could lead to the next escalated situation.”

Recent announcements by the rebel regime of Syria led by Abu Muhammad al-Julani have stated that they will not allow Iranians to fly over Syrian airspace.
