Dear %%FIRST NAME%% of Fellow Concerned American: Thou shall not murder. It used to be the easiest of the 10 Commandments for people to recite. But today, it seems that commandment has been thrown into the trash heap. Just look at the recent murder of the United Healthcare CEO. Many young people were willing to ignore the significance of the 6th Commandment and turned Mangione into a celebrity. This is a clarion call for what happens when our nation abandons Biblical values and why we must step up to ensure our children do not celebrate such vigilantism. Fortunately, we have a plan that will teach our children the Biblical values and ethics needed to restore America back to the vision of its Founding Fathers and the morals they subscribed to when they established our nation. All we need is your support. The Center for Restoring Values believes there is a solution to this paradigm –by restoring the Biblical foundation back into the lives of our children through formal education. The veneration of this CEO murderer is the result of parents and our education system failing to teach children the timeless truths of responsibility, forgiveness, and hope. Instead, we allow social media to often promote shallow narratives of self-interest, thereby creating a generation untethered from meaning and struggling to find direction. It is true that in a dangerous world, it is sometimes necessary to fight fire with fire. There are just wars that are moral and good, but vigilantism is never the answer. That’s why a return to Biblical principles is the only way to turn our country back to G-d. As Isaiah 1:27 states, “Zion is redeemed through righteousness.” It’s these principles that our children and grandchildren desperately need to learn. It’s the only way we will save our nation and its children. Restoring Our Values, Rabbi David B. Siff, Ph.D.
