Russell Vought was confirmed by the Senate to be in charge of the Office of Management and Budget on Thursday, despite massive opposition from Democrats.
The Senate confirmed Vought by a 53-47 vote after a chaotic vote on the floor, during which Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, shouted in protest. Fox News reports:
Republicans supported Vought’s nomination. They argued that he was a qualified candidate, as he held the same position during the first term of President Donald Trump. Democrats raised concerns over his nomination, stating that his views on the Impoundment Control Act which asserts the authority of Congress to control the purse disqualified him for the position.
Democrats protested against Vought for 30 hours, giving speeches at night in order to delay the vote.

The OMB has responsibility for executing and developing the budget of the President, and also overseeing and co-ordinating legislative proposals and priorities that are aligned with executive branch.
Democrats were enraged by the fight to prevent Vought as OMB head, and some even went so far as to shout during the voting.
Russ Vought, after his confirmation on Thursday, praised God via his social media account.
“God is praised. I am grateful to President Obama and the US Senate. I am incredibly grateful to all those who have prayed for me. Now. Let’s. “Go,” he wrote.
