Trump Endorses Byron Donalds To Serve As Florida’s Next Governor

In a Thursday evening Truth Social post, President Donald Trump stated that he would support Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds as the next Governor of Florida if he decided to run.

Trump has urged the conservative Florida legislator to enter the race citing his support of the president’s America First Agenda. Trump’s endorsement will likely carry significant weight, given his residence and political influence in Florida.

Trump said that Byron “would have a BIG voice as Governor and would work with me closely to advance our America First Agenda.” He will fight relentlessly to Secure Our Border, Stop Migrant Crimes, Strengthen Our Military, Protect Our Vets, Restore Economic Power, Advance American Energy Dominance, and Defend the Second Amendment, which is always under attack.

Trump shared on Truth Social Monday a Victory Insights survey showing Donalds as having a significant advantage over any potential opponents in a hypothetical contest. Donalds received 31% of the vote, while Republican Florida Lieutenant Governor. Jeanette Nunez was 4% supported, followed by Wilton Simpson, the state agriculture commissioner.

So far, no Florida Republican candidate has entered the GOP primary.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ term is limited. He has not yet endorsed anyone to succeed him.

Donalds, a conservative member of the House Freedom Caucus, is serving his third term as Florida’s 19th district representative.
