GOP Senator Suffers Brain Bleed After Slipping On Ice

Kevin Cramer, a Republican North Dakota Senator, suffered a brain trauma Sunday afternoon after slipping in his backyard.
Cramer said in a Facebook statement that he had been hospitalized, and was diagnosed with “a severe concussion” and a “slight brain bleed”. He did not say when he would return to Washington, D.C., saying that he was unsure of his plans, but he might return for a crucial vote, if needed.
Cramer wrote: “Late yesterday, I went to my backyard to pick up a piece that had fallen off my dock onto the ice.” “While walking down the hill to the dock, i stepped on ice, and I evidently fell, hitting my back of the head. I did not remember the fall until we arrived at Sanford Health’s emergency room, with Kris. I was diagnosed after seeing an emergency doctor and taking tests including a CT Scan and visiting a neurologist with a severe brain bleed, a concussion and a seizure.
Cramer explained, “The doctor stapled a few staples to the laceration on my head because it wouldn’t stop bleeding. I was admitted.” I slept well before the second CT Scan. Today I feel better with only a small brain bleed. However, my headaches are still pretty bad. Doctors want me to rest for a bit longer before I return to DC. I don’t know when I will be able to do that. This week will be a day-to-day affair, but I’m ready to return as soon as necessary if the situation demands it.

The statement didn’t clarify whether Cramer was still being treated at the North Dakota hospital for his seizure and bleeding brain.
This week, the Senate will confirm more Trump nominees. These include Army Secretary nominee Daniel Driscoll as well as U.S. trade representative Jamieson Greer. The Senate GOP leadership, with its 53-seat majority in the Senate, will have enough votes to confirm Trump’s nominees even if Cramer is not present.
Cramer, who is in his second Senate term, is a prominent member of many Senate committees including the Senate Banking Committee and Senate Armed Services Committee.
