In addition to funding for the wall, the proposal advocates for increased investment in border personnel, equipment, and bonuses. These measures aim to sustain the notable reduction in illegal cross-border activities. The proposed funding would enable the construction of 701 miles of primary wall, 629 miles of secondary barriers, and 900 miles of river barriers. It also includes the replacement of 141 miles of existing vehicle and pedestrian barriers. This represents a tripling of the funds compared to those gathered during President Trump’s first term, which amounted to approximately $15 billion from various sources, including emergency Pentagon funds.

Committee Chairman Mark Green, a Republican from Tennessee, emphasized the importance of this funding in continuing the successful border security measures initiated under President Trump. He challenged his colleagues in Congress to support these robust measures, stating, “Any lawmaker who claims to care about border security will need to put their money where their mouth is and work to advance these recommendations.”
