Ocasio-Cortez Issues Stark Warning to Trump Administration

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has issued a stern warning to the Trump administration following the arrest of three Democratic members of Congress from New Jersey. The congresswoman expressed her concerns through an Instagram video, reacting to the detention of Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez, and LaMonica McIver during their visit to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.

Accusations of Intimidation by DHS

Ocasio-Cortez accused the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of engaging in “public intimidation.” She defended her colleagues, stating, “If anyone’s breaking the law in this situation, it’s not members of Congress, it’s the Department of Homeland Security.” She specifically named DHS officials, including Tom Homan and Secretary Kristi Noem, as the real lawbreakers in this scenario.

The congresswoman did not mince words in her video, warning, “You lay a finger on someone, on Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman … or any of the representatives that were there, you lay a finger on them, we are going to have a problem. Because the people who are breaking the law are the people not abiding by it.”

Controversy at Delaney Hall Detention Center

ICE officials have alleged that during a protest at the Delaney Hall detention center, the Democrat officials, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, engaged in pushing and shoving. The Trump administration has defended the importance of the facility, emphasizing its role in detaining violent immigrants illegally present in the country. In contrast, local officials like Mayor Baraka have contested the administration’s operation of the facility without proper permits.

Watson Coleman criticized President Trump’s approach on MSNBC, stating, “To take the mayor of the largest city in the state of New Jersey and put him in handcuffs and then take him away, and his mother, God bless her soul, in addition to his wife. His mother is here, and she has been here since they brought him here. This is not America. This is the sick man’s idea of what he thinks he can do to any one of us, or all of us that he doesn’t like.”
