Dear Friend of Israel, As American children pack their bags for summer camp and family vacations to Disney World, Israeli children are packing their emergency bags for another evacuation to a hotel bomb shelter.
Today, as I saw a seven or eight year old girl practicing her violin in the lobby of a hotel where they have been living since their home was destroyed by an Iranian missile, I was struck by a heartbreaking reality: Summer vacation has begun for Israel’s children – but instead of swimming pools and playgrounds, they’re confined to hotel corridors and bomb shelters. Countless children have been displaced from their homes since the latest wave of Iranian missile attacks began. Unlike the beach resorts and mountain camps that American children are enjoying this summer, Israeli children wake up each morning in cramped hotel rooms, sharing crowded public spaces with scores of families. These children have lost nearly everything:
But what breaks my heart most is watching mothers with 3, 4, even 5 children trying to keep them occupied 24 hours a day in a single hotel room, some of whose fathers serve on the front lines. Nobody is getting a break. These overwhelmed mothers need your help right now. Please donate → Yesterday, I heard from Rachel (not her real name) who called in tears. Her husband was called up to reserves two weeks ago, leaving her alone with four children ages 3-12 in a hotel room. “My kids are going stir-crazy,” she sobbed. “They ask me every day when they can go home, when they can see daddy, when this will end. I have no answers. All I have are four restless children and no way to keep them busy or happy.” While American parents worry about packing for camp, Israeli parents worry about how to explain to a 5-year-old why they can’t go outside to play. You can be the answer to Rachel’s prayers. Help us bring joy to her children → Hotels across Israel have opened their meeting rooms and conference spaces to serve as makeshift activity centers for displaced children. But these rooms sit empty because there’s nothing to put in them. Will you help us fill these empty rooms with hope? Donate today ? Here’s what we need to fill these rooms immediately:
Your Impact: Every Dollar Counts
While American families post photos from their summer vacations, Israeli families huddle together during air raid sirens, teaching their children to count to 90 – the time it takes to reach the nearest bomb shelter and then wait for the “all clear.” But you can change this story. Your donation can transform despair into joy → Thanks to generous supporters like you, we’ve already delivered thousands of toys, games, and activities to displaced children from across Israel. The photos we’ve received show the profound impact – children’s faces lighting up as they discover new books, families gathering around puzzles, and parents finally able to rest while their children engage in meaningful activities. But the need has only grown. With each new wave of attacks, more families are displaced. More children are forced from their homes. More parents are called to military service, leaving overwhelmed spouses to care for multiple children in cramped spaces. The job is far from over. While our previous campaigns brought joy to many, thousands more children still sit in empty hotel rooms with nothing to do but wait for the next air raid siren. These children are counting on people like you. Please don’t let them down → Summer vacation has already begun. Every day these children spend in empty hotel rooms without activities is another day their childhood slips away. Every day these overwhelmed parents struggle alone is another day their mental health deteriorates. There are literally countless hotels across Israel where children are living. We are working with those in charge from government offices and social service agencies to provide what’s needed. We have a list of age-appropriate supplies ready to purchase. All we need is your help to make it happen. Please don’t let another day pass with these innocent children trapped in empty rooms with nothing to do but listen for the next air raid siren. Rush your emergency donation now and be their hero → Your donation today could be the difference between a child spending their summer vacation in despair or discovering that even in the darkest times, there are people around the world who care about them. Show these children they’re not forgotten → May the Lord Bless You and Keep You, Jonathan Feldstein P.S. The children go from meal to meal, running through the lobby and the hallways. They’re making the best of their situation, but they deserve so much more. Please don’t let them spend another day without the activities and supplies they need. Their childhood depends on your generosity today ?
