Biden DOJ Celebrates $750 Million in Funding for More Red Flag Laws

The Department of Justice of President Biden (DOJ) celebrated Saturday the launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center, and the subsequent administration pledge of $750,000,000 that the Center can utilize to pursue more red-flag laws.

Breitbart reported that Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, announced the creation National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center in a speech delivered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school. This is the site of the February 14, 2018 shooting which resulted 17 deaths.

Harris said:

Red flag laws were designed to give communities a way to communicate information to each other about the dangers that may be present or about the cry for help from an individual. Let’s do this before a tragedy happens. One of the reasons I’m here today is that I want to encourage every state to pass red flag laws.

Merrick Garland, Attorney general of the DOJ, said:

Launching the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center, we will be able to provide valuable resources for our partners in the United States to help keep firearms away from individuals who are a danger to themselves or to others. The Center’s creation is just the latest in the Justice Department’s efforts to use all the tools provided by the landmark Bipartisan Safety Communities Act to protect local communities from gun violence.

According to the Giffords Law Center, neither the DOJ nor Harris made any mention of California’s red flag law that was adopted in 2014. FBI data, however, showed that California was the leader in “active shooting incidents” for 2021.

Harris and the DOJ also failed to mention Florida’s red flag law, which was adopted just weeks after Parkland, but failed to prevent a massacre that occurred at Sun Trust Bank on January 23, 2019 in Sebring.
