House Clerk Announces Pelosi Served With Subpoenas In Criminal Case

A U.S. House official announced Wednesday that Nancy Pelosi, former House Speaker (D-CA), has been subpoenaed to testify in a criminal trial out of California.

Reading Clerk Tylease alli read to the Speaker a message from Pelosi, in accordance with House Rules, which dictates how members should handle judicial subpoenas or orders that have been “properly served”.

Alli recited: “This is to inform you formally pursuant Rule 8 of The Rules of the House of Representatives that I, Nancy Pelosi the speaker emerita and U.S. Representative for the 11th Congressional District of California have been served third-party subpoenas by the prosecution and defendant to produce documents for a criminal trial in the United States District Court of Northern District of California,” Alli said.

The message continued, “After consulting with the Office of General Counsel I have determined compliance with subpoenas to be consistent with privileges and the rights of the House.” The message added that “to the extent it is required to produce nonprivileged information, responses to subpoenas are identical.”

Don’t let Senate Republicans kill the Trump Agenda

Why do Senate Republicans make the rest of the GOP worry every time Congress has a fight over major legislation? They rarely seem to remember that they were elected to protect individual rights, cut spending and limit government overreach. Fortunately, we have our Top Defenders of Liberty leading the way, like:

  • Rand Paul,
  • Mike Lee, and
  • Ron Johnson.

Unfortunately, there’s still many others in the U.S. Senate who earned a low score in our Liberty Index, and they need to hear from you.

Will you join our efforts to ensure the U.S. Senate passes Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” without compromises or interference from Senate RINOS?

The specific cases linked to subpoenas were not mentioned. Jake Sherman, co-founder of Punchbowl News, reported that Pelosi’s office refused to comment on ongoing legal issues.

This announcement coincides with the start of the federal trial against David DePape. He is the man accused in the San Francisco house invasion attack that occurred on Paul Pelosi, Pelosi’s spouse, about a year ago. DePape has denied the charges, both federal and state. If convicted, he could face decades in prison.

Reports said that in August, the Pelosis gave lawyers for DePape permission to inspect the crime scene at their home and requested a court order regarding the use of the information obtained from the inspection.

Nancy Pelosi, who has been a San Francisco representative since 1987, served as House Speaker twice. The most recent tenure ended at the beginning of the current Congress session when Republicans gained control of the chamber. She chose not to remain in leadership but received the title of “speaker Emerita”. At age 83, Pelosi declared in September that she will run for reelection in the year 2024.
