Schumer ‘forcefully’ told Biden he should drop his re-election bid: report

Schumer, according to reports, told Biden that he should drop out of his race.

According to an ABC report, Chuck Schumer, the top Senate Democrat in the Senate, told President Biden that it was best if he ‘bow out of race’ during a “blank one-on-one” conversation on Saturday.

Chuck Schumer and Biden had a direct one-on-one discussion Saturday afternoon in Rehoboth. Jonathan Karl, ABC News’ chief Washington correspondent, wrote that Schumer made a strong case for Biden to drop out of the race. “Schumer’s office refused to comment on the details of the conversation. They only told me that ‘Leader Schumer expressed the views of his congressional caucus’.”

The Senate majority leader’s office released a similar statement obtained by Fox News Digital Wednesday. However, they did not acknowledge ABC’s report.

A spokesperson for Senator Schumer stated that the ABC reporting was speculative unless it came from either Senator Chuck Schumer, or President Joe Biden. “Leader Schumer communicated directly the views of his caucus to President Biden, on Saturday.”

Multiple sources claim that the news came as the New York Democrat pushed to delay the Democratic National Convention due to questions about Biden’s candidacy in 2024 because of concerns regarding his mental acuity.

Andrew Bates, White House spokesperson, told Fox News Digital that Biden had “told them both he was the nominee for the party and he intends to win. He looks forward to working together with both to pass his agenda of 100 days to help working families.”

Fox News Digital reported that Schumer had spoken with House Minority leader Hakeem Jeffreys, D-N.Y. Both men agreed to ask the DNC not to hold a virtual vote planned for this month in order to nominate Biden.

The DNC announced Wednesday that it was delaying the initial plans to nominate Biden in late July to August, after receiving significant opposition from members of its party.

Gov. Fox News Digital obtained a letter from Tim Walz, D.Minn. and Leah Daughtry, a veteran Democratic Party official.

Adam Schiff, D. California, was the 20th Democrat in Congress to ask Biden to step down on Wednesday. “I think it’s time for him pass the torch,” Schiff told Fox News Digital in a press release.

He made the call one day after an article claimed that he had told donors, “I think if we nominate him, I think we will lose.”

CNN reported that President Biden is more open to the idea of leaving the race. He has moved from saying Vice President Kamalah Harris couldn’t win, to asking his advisers whether the vice president could win.

Karine Jean-Pierre, spokesperson for the White House, confirmed that Biden contracted COVID-19 on Wednesday evening. The COVID diagnosis comes after Biden’s remarks a day before, in which he said that a medical condition might lead him to drop out of the race.

Biden said to BET’s Ed Gordon that if he had a medical condition, doctors would tell him, “You’ve got that problem or that problem.” “But I made an important mistake in this debate. You may remember that when I first ran, I stated I would be a candidate for transition. I thought I could move on from this and pass it to someone else. “But I did not anticipate that things would become so divided.”
