Trump says abortion limits should be left to the states

Keep the status quo and do not support federal restrictions.

Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, wants to leave abortion restrictions to states. He is trying to win over independents without alienating prolife voters.

Mr. Trump stated that allowing state legislators to vote directly on ballots would represent “the will of the people.”

In a video posted by Truth Social on Monday, Mr. Trump stated that “whatever they decide, must be the law in the land. In this case, it is the law of state.” “Many states are going to be different.”

After months of deliberation, Mr. Trump, presumptive GOP candidate, has announced his position on whether he supports a federal prohibition after a certain number of weeks of pregnancy.

In 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade’s broad right to abortion. This allowed states to set boundaries without having to be within their borders. Three of the three justices that made this landmark decision possible were appointed by Mr. Trump.

Many red states have imposed strict abortion limits with few exceptions or imposed a limit on the number of weeks to be able to abort – six, fifteen or any other threshold.

Trump is said to have considered a federal maximum of 15 or 16. However, his announcement leaves things as they are.

His position angered conservative voters that he needed to win back the White House. Pro-life groups urged Mr. Trump take a strong stance on federal limits.

“We are disappointed by President Trump’s stance. Marjorie Dannenfelser is the president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. She said that unborn children and mothers deserve protection and advocacy at the national level against the brutality of abortion industry. “Saying that the issue should be referred to the states cedes the national discussion to the Democrats, who are working tirelessly to pass legislation mandating abortion during all nine months of pregnancy. They will eliminate state rights if they succeed.

Ms. Dannenfelser also said that her group would “work tirelessly” to defeat President Biden, and the extreme Democrats in Congress.

Mr. Trump and the GOP are well aware that Democrats will use restrictions on reproductive choices as a weapon to attack Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump is trying to expand his base of support.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been traveling across the country to call out GOP positions on abortion, which she says are an assault on fundamental rights.

In his video, Trump claimed that Democrats were the extremists, as they supported abortion to the full term.

Mr. Trump thanked, by name and in a specific way, the justices of the right who voted for Roe to be overturned.

He said, “Now it is up to the States to do the Right Thing.”

Mr. Trump has said that he supports exceptions to the limits for rape, incest and to save the mother’s life.

Mr. Trump stated: “You must listen to your heart, but remember that you must also win the elections in order to restore our culture, and in fact, save our nation.”

In his statement Mr. Trump stressed that couples trying to conceive a child should continue to receive in vitro fertilization treatment.

A ruling by an Alabama court has opened the way to wrongful-death suits when frozen embryos are destroyed. This has had a chilling impact on the IVF industry and put pro-life Republicans under pressure.

The state legislature scrambled in order to pass a law that extended immunity to doctors who are involved in IVF procedures.

Trump stated that “at the end of [the] day, it all comes down to the will of the people.” “That’s the situation we’re in right now, and that’s exactly what we want.”
