Trump directs ICE to expand deportation efforts in Democratic-run cities

President Trump Intensifies Deportation Efforts in Democrat-Controlled Cities
In a striking move on Sunday night, President Trump has ordered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to escalate their deportation operations specifically targeting cities governed by Democrats. This directive follows protests in Los Angeles against the president’s stringent immigration policies.
President Trump has explicitly instructed ICE to maximize their efforts to assist in achieving what he describes as the administration’s goal of conducting the “largest Mass Deportation Operation of Illegal Aliens in History.” Cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York have been specifically mentioned for intensified enforcement actions.
Statement from the White House
White House aide Stephen Miller indicated last month that the administration aims for ICE to make at least 3,000 arrests daily. President Trump commended ICE officers for their resilience amid challenges. “Our Nation’s ICE Officers have shown incredible strength, determination, and courage as they facilitate a very important mission,” he stated on Truth Social.
Furthermore, the president accused major cities under Democratic control of using illegal immigrants to manipulate election outcomes and expand welfare dependency, at the expense of American citizens. “These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities,” he added.
Focus on ‘Blue’ Urban Centers

Trump’s statements reinforce his administration’s commitment to focusing immigration enforcement efforts particularly in populous cities he describes as “core of the Democrat Power Center.” He highlighted the large number of undocumented immigrants in these areas, alleging that they contribute to various societal and economic problems.
Additionally, Trump criticized Democrats for supporting policies he views as detrimental to American values and security, such as open borders and sanctuary cities. “That is why they believe in Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women’s Sports,” Trump expressed his concern over the policies endorsed by Democrats.
Recent Developments and Continuing Controversies
The president’s directive comes amid confrontations and protests in Los Angeles, which led him to deploy military troops to the city to control the situation, prompting clashes and criticism from local Democratic leaders like California Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass.
Last week, a federal appeals court temporarily lifted a judicial order that had declared Trump’s deployment of the National Guard as illegal, permitting the continuation of military involvement in assisting ICE operations in Los Angeles.
This dramatic escalation in ICE activities marks a significant expansion in the Trump administration’s efforts to address immigration, which continues to be a central theme of his presidency and a source of intense debate and division between Republican and Democratic factions.
