China Building New Military Spy Base Near U.S. Base In Caribbean

Satellite images have revealed that the Communist China is building a spy base near the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo, in Cuba. This base will be built in collaboration with the Cuban Government.

The Wall Street Journal published images that show the construction of a new spy base in El Salao, an area outside Santiago de Cuba.

The construction of the base began during the first year of President Joe Biden’s administration. It is “designed to accommodate a large array of circularly disposed antennas, which are used to intercept and find electronic signals.”

According to the report, the base is likely to be able spy on the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo even though China uses older technology the U.S.A. and Russia have long since stopped using.

Reports state that El Salao is one of four spy bases on the island. Other bases are at Bejucal Wajay and Calabazar.

Intelligence officials claim that the bases pose a serious threat to national security for the U.S., because China uses Cuba’s proximity to the U.S. in order to intercept electronic communications from U.S. bases, space installations, military and commercial ships, as well as spying on American citizens.

China has been aggressively expanding its influence and footprint in Latin America and the Caribbean in an attempt to undermine the U.S. and replace it as the world’s leading superpower.

China is building a massive port in Peru, which U.S. officials fear could tip the power balance in the region. They also worry that the Chinese will use economic coercion to force Latin nations into submission. China has also been aggressively attempting to expand its control and influence in Argentina, Honduras and Colombia through various projects.

China has also moved to take over Antigua, a paradise island that is just a few hundred miles from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Newsweek reported that China was building a Chinese-run economic zone in the Caribbean island. The zone “will have its customs and immigration procedures, a shipping terminal and dedicated airline as well as be able issue passports,” said Newsweek. It will set up businesses that offer everything from facial surgery to cryptocurrency, logistics to facial surgery.
