Iran missile attacks on Israel kill 5, while Israel claims it controls the skies over Tehran

The Escalation of Conflict Between Israel and Iran
Early on Monday, Iran intensified its offensive against Israel by launching a fresh series of missile attacks, resulting in at least five casualties. Conversely, Israel has proclaimed that it has successfully achieved air superiority over Tehran, enabling its aircraft to traverse the Iranian capital’s airspace with impunity.
Israel’s Strategic Military Advances
The Israeli military disclosed that over the course of the ongoing four-day conflict, it has effectively neutralized more than 120 Iranian surface-to-surface missile launch sites situated in central Iran, which represents a third of Iran’s total arsenal in this category. Additionally, ten Quds Force command centers in Tehran have been targeted and destroyed by Israeli fighter jets. The Quds Force is a specialized division of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard tasked with overseas military and intelligence operations.
“At this time, we can say that we have achieved full aerial superiority over Tehran’s skies,” stated Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, a military spokesperson. He emphasized that the Israeli offensives represent a “deep and comprehensive blow to the Iranian threat.”
Iran’s Retaliatory Strikes and Casualties
Despite its losses, Iran has responded robustly, launching approximately 100 missiles since the commencement of Israeli attacks last Friday. These Iranian strikes have inflicted significant casualties, claiming over 224 lives in Iran.

A missile incident occurred close to the American consulate in Tel Aviv, causing minor structural damage, as noted by U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among American personnel.
The total number of Israeli fatalities reported thus far stands at 24, with an additional 500 individuals sustaining injuries from more than 370 missile strikes and numerous drone attacks launched by Iran.
In Petah Tikva, a central Israeli town, residents experienced severe property damage when Iranian missiles struck a residential building, leading to casualties and extensive physical destruction.
The Israeli emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), responded to these attacks, confirming that five lives were lost, and mentioned that 87 other individuals were injured needing hospitalization. Further efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue additional victims trapped under debris.
Political and Civilian Reactions
In the aftermath of these tragic events, citizens like Yoram Suki, who lost his home in the strikes, still support the Israeli government’s tough stance against Iran. Despite personal losses, Suki stands with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to continue the offensive.
Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, indicated that Iran would cease its attacks if Israel reciprocated. However, the tone from the Revolutionary Guard was markedly more defiant, promising that the subsequent strikes would be “more forceful, severe, precise and destructive than previous ones.”
Meanwhile, human rights organizations have raised concerns about the underreporting of casualties. According to the Washington-based group, Human Rights Activists, the death toll in Iran might be significantly higher than official figures, with civilian deaths being particularly underreported.
The conflict has also seen severe repercussions for suspected spies in Iran, with the reported execution of a medical doctor accused of providing sensitive information to Israel’s Mossad.
