Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao faces criminal indictment

Reports indicate that seven months after the FBI raided the former Oakland mayor Sheng Thao’s home, a federal grand juror indicted both her and her longtime companion, Andre Jones.

The San Francisco Chronicle broke the story first on Thursday. The Mercury News then reported that Jones had been indicted. Both news organizations cite sources who are familiar or close to this subject.

The FBI confirmed Friday the reports with a press conference that announced the indictment which alleges bribes involved Thao and others.

The FBI took several boxes from Thao’s house in June. The same day, agents raided homes and businesses owned by members of the Duong Family, which owns Cal Waste Solutions in Oakland, a recycling contractor. Thao and Jones both denied wrongdoing. The former mayor also stressed that she was not the subject of any investigation.

Don’t let Senate Republicans kill the Trump Agenda

Why do Senate Republicans make the rest of the GOP worry every time Congress has a fight over major legislation? They rarely seem to remember that they were elected to protect individual rights, cut spending and limit government overreach. Fortunately, we have our Top Defenders of Liberty leading the way, like:

  • Rand Paul,
  • Mike Lee, and
  • Ron Johnson.

Unfortunately, there’s still many others in the U.S. Senate who earned a low score in our Liberty Index, and they need to hear from you.

Will you join our efforts to ensure the U.S. Senate passes Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” without compromises or interference from Senate RINOS?

She then publicly criticized the FBI over the timing of this raid, noting that it occurred amid an increasing push to recall her.

Thao was recall in November.
