North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, the state’s Attorney General Josh Stein’s opponent in the race for governor, vowed on Thursday to remain in that race after a bombshell reported said he had posted derogatory remarks and called himself a “Black Nazi”.

Mr. Robinson, Republican nominee, uploaded an 82-second clip on X, calling the allegations “salacious, tabloid lies.”

“We will win this race,” said Mr. Robinson.

Mr. Robinson made the pre-buttal unusual after a day of rumours in local media and on social media about an upcoming story from CNN which could push him out of the race.

According to the story published on Thursday afternoon, Mr. Robinson had posted on Nude Africa under a nickname he used frequently online. His online profile, however, included his full name and his email address.

The report claims that he wrote on a forum for Black Republicans: “Slavery does not have to be bad.” Some people are meant to be slaves. I wish that slavery would be brought back. “I would buy some.”

According to the article, Mr. Robinson also posted insulting words against Muslims and Jews.

In his X-video, the candidate stated that “the things you’ll see in the story are not Mark Robinson’s words.” “You know what I say, you know who I am.”

Mr. Robinson claimed that opponents were “desperate” in their attempts to divert attention from the issues most important to voters.

In March, Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, endorsed Mr. Robinson and called him “Martin Luther King on steroids.”

The support for Mr. Robinson helped propel him to the GOP nomination, despite his tendency to openly criticize the LGBT community and use other strident language.

The CNN article noted that Mr. Robinson had, under the moniker he used, expressed his love for transgender pornography and called MLK a “commie bastard”, and worse than a maggot.

In major polls, Mr. Robinson had trailed Mr. Stein, a Democrat.

Some Trump supporters said to pollsters that they plan to split their tickets in order for Mr. Stein.

Earlier in the week, Mr. Stein declined to debate Mr. Robinson.

The front-runner said on WPTF Radio, in Raleigh: “I won’t stand up and let him spread his lies.”
