Mexican government slams DeSantis’ law banning ID for illegal migrants

Mexico has condemned the law signed by Florida Governor Rick Scott. Ron DeSantis, which prohibits the counties and towns of Florida from providing funds to issue identification documents for illegal migrants.

Mexico warned that the measure would “lead” to discrimination and racial profileing.

The government said that the law would “affect the human rights and children of thousands of Mexicans and create hostile environments which could lead to hate crimes or acts against the migrant communities.” “Criminalization does not solve the problem of undocumented immigrants.”

The illegal migration rate has increased over the last few years, as migrants have built makeshift boats and used the Florida Keys to land in order to gain access to the rest of the United States.

DeSantis is adamant about cracking down on illegal immigration. He has increased penalties for human trafficking and restricted employment eligibility.
