This weekend, demonstrators at an International Quds Day event in Dearborn Michigan shouted, “Death To America” and “Death To Israel”.

International Quds Day was created to show support for Gaza and to oppose Israel’s occupation of what demonstrators consider to be Palestinian territory. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian American in Congress, represents Dearborn as part of Michigan’s 12th Congressional District. She is also likely the most ardent supporter of Gaza within both chambers.

In a video posted by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Tarek Bazoi, a local activist said, “Imam Khomeini declared the International Al-Quds Day. This is why he’d say pour all your chants, all your shouts, on the head of America.” The video seems to be cut off for a brief moment, before “Death To America” is heard in the background.

Bazzi continued, criticizing the United States’ support for Israel’s military campaign against Gaza. When these fools ask if Israel is allowed to exist, chanting ‘Death To Israel’ becomes the most logical response.

According to the video, his words were immediately followed by chants “Death To Israel.”

Dearborn is home to the largest Muslim population in the United States. In Michigan’s primary presidential election, more than 100,000 people voted “uncommitted”, in protest of President Joe Biden’s response to Gaza’s war. Biden may have met with Muslim and Arab American leader and even reduced his support for Israel, but many leaders remain unsatisfied.

Biden called for Israel to immediately cease fire with Hamas, just a few days before the six month anniversary of Hamas’s horrific massacre of around 1,100 Israelis in October 7. Biden’s action has been criticized and he has received the wrath from both Republicans who want him to be more resolute about his support of Israel, and the far left corner of his own party. They wanted him to call a ceasefire months ago and stop sending arms to Israel.

Gaza’s Health Ministry, overseen by Hamas and the Gaza Health Ministry has reported that Israel’s offensive against Palestinians since Oct. 7, 2008, has killed more than 32,000.

Biden won Michigan in 2020 by approximately 150,000 votes, and it is expected that the state will play a key role again this November.
