California Ballot Petition Could Repeal Major Transgender Legislation

A ballot petition could be used to repeal the transgender law in California, a Democrat stronghold. This would be a major blow for the trans agenda.

The three-part initiative, launched by Protect Kids California could “require that schools notify parents when a child wants to socially transgender in school settings”, and “ensure that girls’ athletic programs are only for female athletes”. It may also “prevent the sterilization of minors by prohibiting cross-sex hormonal treatments, puberty blocking agents, or gender-transgender surgery.”

California was spared the radical transgenderism that would have swept through the state if Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom has vetoed legislation that would have forced courts to take into account a child’s “gender identity” when making custody decisions, as Politico reported in earlier this year.

The petition, which was launched in November and received thousands of signatures, has gained a lot of traction. Jonathan Zachreson, Protect Kids California co-founder, told the outlet that the state is “a central point where many of these terrible policies relating youth and gender dysphoria occur”:

A recent poll shows that nearly 70% of California voters are against schools hiding gender identity from parents. This polling data, as well as other polls showing a “disconnect”, between voters and legislators in California, according to Mr. Zachreson, “was the impetus” for launching these initiatives.

The petition was titled by the state attorney general’s office, which is responsible for the title. Mr. Zachreson stated that his group would consider suing the office over the language before the initiative made it to the ballot.

Zachreson stated that the initiative would not restrict rights but “protect them.”

Mr. Zachreson explained, “It protects the parental right to know what their children are doing at school.” It’s about protecting the privacy of female students and athletes. It’s also protecting the right of children to have their private parts, and to be able grow up into adults in order to reproduce healthily.

He added, “If we succeed in California, this will completely change the conversation and direction on this issue throughout the United States and possibly internationally.”

Equality California stated that the initiative is intended to demonize LGBTQ youth.

The group’s communication director, Jorge Reyes Salinas told the outlet that it was “extremely awful” that there were still people in California who demonized LGBTQ+ youth.

He said: “We know this hateful and anti-LGBTQ+ speech has no place in California. Especially knowing that 69 per cent of Americans support the LGBTQ+ Community.” “We are working with community partners to prevent this horrible side of history from happening and people not getting the signatures they’re trying get,” he said.
