Colorado Republican Party members vote to oust chairman Dave Williams

Colorado Republicans started calling for Dave Williams to be removed in June, after he had signed an email sent out by the state party criticizing Pride Month.

The Colorado Republican Party’s members voted Saturday to remove its top leaders from office.

Dave Williams, Hope Scheppelman and Anna Ferguson, the three leaders of Colorado’s GOP, were all voted out Saturday. However, these leaders had already stated that they believed Saturday’s meeting was a fake.

Members of the party also voted to elect Eli Bremer, the new leader of the state party.

Quite frankly, we may have won the election, but there’s still a war to be fought and the Left isn’t resting; they’re regrouping. And now that Donald Trump is Time’s Person of the Year, you can be assured their feelings have been exacerbated. They’re not singing Kumbaya in DC just yet. In fact, they’re plotting ways to embarrass him and cause him to fail. Will you join our efforts to fight back and defeat them?. We can’t wait until January 21—that will be too late!

Todd Watkins, El Paso County Republican Vice Chair, said: “Those who argue that you shouldn’t change your rider during a race have a valid point, unless the rider is trying kill the horse.”

Watkins is trying to remove Williams from his position for several months.

Watkins stated, “We have no confidence in the abilities of the current leadership.” “The only purpose of a party, and the only reason to form a party is to put your people in positions that can influence policy.” They have made no attempt to move anyone up in the party. They spent money attacking their own in the primaries. “I can’t believe that.”

Colorado Politics reported that Colorado Republicans started calling for Williams to be removed in June, after he had signed an email sent by the party to attack Pride Month and referred the LGBTQ community as ‘godless groomers.’ The criticism increased after the Republican Party of Colorado posted on social media a message to “Burn the #pride Flags in June.”

In July, an Arapahoe County District Court Judge granted a temporary order to prevent a meeting that could have been held to oust Williams. Later, the same judge revoked this restraining. Watkins was able to convene Saturday’s Brighton meeting.

After the judge’s decision, the Colorado Republican Party sent an email to all its members informing them that the next meeting “properly” called would be held on August 31. The State Executive Committee decided Saturday’s meeting was invalid and illegal. Williams’ removal will likely be discussed at the meeting.
