NY Republicans Call for ‘Investigation’ of Gov. Kathy Hochul After Top Aide Charged with Working as Agent for China
New York Republicans have called for an investigation of New York Governor. Kathy Hochul (D), after the arrest of an ex-top aide accused of working as a Chinese agent of influence.
Rep. Elise Stefanik, Rep. Mike Lawler, and Rep. Claudia Tenney, all Republicans, have demanded an investigation into Linda Sun and Chris Hu. Federal prosecutors unveiled an indictment accusing Sun, an American naturalized citizen born in China, of conspiring to violate Foreign Agents Registration Act.
According to the indictment, Sun’s husband Hu was charged with conspiring to commit bank fraud and misuse of means identification as well as money laundering conspiracy.
Stefanik, in a National Review statement, said that “failed far-left Democrat Kathy Hochul gave Communist Chinese spy Linda Sun free access to the highest levels New York State Government.” From allowing Chinese police station to maintaining a Sister City Partnership between NYC and Beijing this is yet another example of New York Democrats aiding the influence campaign by Communist China.

Stefanik said that she “called for a full investigation” into Hochul and her government to give “hard-working New York taxpayers the transparency they deserve.”
Lawler spoke out as well, calling it “alarming”, that an agent of the Chinese Communist Party was “on her staff”.
According to Center Square, Lawler stated in a press release that “the fact that Kathy Hochul has a CCP on her staff is alarming and needs further investigation.” How else could this foreign agent have affected the Governor’s decisions? “The public deserves to be informed.”
Tenney called for a full investigation in a blog post on X.
Tenney wrote that “under Governor Hochul, China’s Communist Party had installed a spy at the highest level of our state government.” New Yorkers should know about all the CCP-influenced decisions Hochul has made. We need to conduct a thorough investigation as soon as possible.
Sun and Hu were both arrested on Tuesday and charged in federal court. Sun was also an aide to former New York Governor. Andrew Cuomo (D).
