On primary eve, Donald Trump urges GOP voters to back ‘fantastic’ Kari Lake
Former President Donald Trump urged Arizona Republicans, citing his political priorities and complaints to support U.S. Senate Candidate Kari Lake in a race with an “ultra left” Democrat.
In a phone call for Lake’s Campaign, Trump mispronounced the name of Vice President Kamala Harris and called it a “coup”. He also said that Lake would help him to implement his plans for another term.
“She’s fantastic. Trump stated that she will not disappoint us. “Kari, I think she will be the best you can get,” Trump said. “There’s no one better.”
As voting for Arizona’s primaries ends on Tuesday, Republican voters will choose between Lake and Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb or neuroscientist Elizabeth Jean Reye.
The winner of the Democratic nomination will face Ruben Gallego who has no opponent in the race for the Senate seat to replace retiring Senator Kyrsten S. Sinema (I-Ariz.).
Lake is widely considered the favorite for the GOP primaries, thanks to Trump’s early support, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and the majority of Republican Senators that she hopes join.
Lamb ran a low budget, low profile campaign. The conservative groups American Encore and Secure Arizona’s Future contributed nearly $350,000 to the campaign.
Compared to this, groups aligned with Lake have spent approximately $140,000 in order to support her during the primary, while organizations aligned with Democratic parties have spent over $800,000.
Trump’s phone call, which lasted for less than 15 minute, was a mini rally of sorts to support a candidate that he has supported since the night in October when she officially entered the race.
He mixed in media complaints, laid out his own agenda, “drill baby drill”, to lower energy prices and eliminate income tax on tipping. And, of course, closed America’s border.
“She is fearless in her support of common sense, America first policies. “Kari will vote to seal that border,” said he. “We are going to seal this border. This will stop the invasion immediately. “There’s been nothing like it.”
Trump called Gallego “an open border zealot” and ripped him for his five-term tenure as a member of Congress.
Trump also lingered a bit over Harris’s ascendance to the presidential ticket.
It looks like (President Joe Biden) was the victim of a coup. Trump said that his former rival received 14 million votes and was then thrown out.
They said: “We’re going to get you out. Either you do it in a nice way, or the hard way. It’s a bit like a prizefight. It’s like a prize fight. They say “That’s fine, let’s put another fighter in the ring.” “Trump said. “That’s exactly what they did to Kamala. But she is actually worse. She is actually worse than him. Kari will be a great help, and she will be voting with us on everything from energy independence to everything else.
Trump claimed that Gallego, whose last name he mispronounced as well, was “an ultra-left winger and radical Democrat extremist”.
“He is a man who is not respected.” He is not respected. “People don’t pay attention to him,” Trump added. The polls, according to Kari, are good. They don’t listen to him.
Gallego leads Lake in public polls since Sinema left the race in march.
