Josh Hawley Says Liberals ‘Going Crazy’ Because They Know Trump Is Right On China And Biden Wasn’t

Hawley Criticizes Liberal Response to Trump’s China Policies
During a recent appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Republican Missouri Senator Josh Hawley expressed his views on the liberal reaction to former President Donald Trump’s policies towards China. He suggested that the left is in turmoil because they recognize the effectiveness of Trump’s approach.
“The liberals are going crazy, and they’re going nuts because they know he’s right,” Hawley stated, emphasizing the lack of a coherent response from the opposition. He continued, “They don’t have any answer for it. They know he’s right. They know this is what needs to happen.”
Accusations Against the Biden Administration
Hawley did not hold back in his criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of China, particularly in the context of cybersecurity. He accused the administration of being inactive and weak in the face of significant threats, such as the cyberattacks that Chinese officials reportedly admitted to launching in response to U.S. support for Taiwan.
“It’s outrageous. It’s also something we’ve known for a long time. I mean, the truth is the Biden administration knew very well that China was behind these cyberattacks,” Hawley remarked.

He highlighted the ‘Salt Typhoon’ attack as a prime example of China’s aggressive cyber activities, pointing out the ongoing vulnerabilities in America’s digital infrastructure and communications grids. “They’re still there, by the way, Laura. What did the Biden administration do about it? Nothing,” he lamented.
Trump’s Firm Stance on China
Contrasting the current administration’s policies with those of his predecessor, Hawley praised Donald Trump for his decisive actions against China. “And now Donald Trump is getting serious. He’s actually protecting this country, protecting our jobs, bringing back industry. That’s what we need him to do,” he asserted.
Trump’s recent actions include a 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs for most nations, coupled with an increase in tariffs on Chinese imports to 125%. This move is part of what Trump has termed “Liberation Day,” a bold step in recalibrating international trade dynamics in favor of American interests.
Following Trump’s announcement, China retaliated by imposing a 34% tariff on all U.S. imports starting April 10. Trump responded assertively on Truth Social, criticizing Beijing’s approach and stating that China “played it wrong.”
Senator Hawley’s comments underline a significant divide in U.S. political circles regarding China policy, with strong opinions on both the effectiveness and direction of current strategies. As tensions continue to escalate, the debate over the best course of action remains heated.
