Trump: Fine With Unmuted Microphones at Debate
Donald Trump, the former president, said on Monday that he was fine with having unmuted mics during his scheduled presidential debate with Kamala Harrs on ABC on Sept. 10.
We agreed on the same rules. “I don’t care — it doesn’t bother me,” Trump said to CNN when asked if he wanted the microphones muted during the debate.
“I would prefer to have it on, but we agreed that it should be the same as the last time.” The volume was muted. It was a bit too loud the last time I tried it, but this time it was fine. They are trying to change the situation. They’re really trying to escape because she doesn’t want to argue. She is not an excellent debater. She is not intelligent. “She doesn’t want debate,” he continued.
According to reports, the debate was stuck over a rule that requires microphones to be muted when a candidate is not speaking.
Harris’ team requested that the microphones be on at all times in the ABC debate. This was a departure from the previously agreed upon rules by Trump and President Joe Biden when Biden had been the Democratic presidential nominee. According to Politico, this was a “redline” for Biden.
In a Truth Social posting Sunday, Trump complained about ABC’s panel. Jonathan Karl, the host of “This Week”, also questioned why Trump would agree to participate in a debate sponsored by ABC.
