White House adviser cites disruptive presidential travel as reason Biden hasn’t gone to border

Keisha Lance Bottoms, White House adviser, stated that President Biden has not been to the border since Sunday because of the disruption caused by presidential travel. This criticism was made by Republicans in the midst of a crisis which has seen record numbers of migrants enter the U.S.

“Well, it’s important to remember that the President travels. It is not like us jumping on an airplane to get to our destination. All of it comes to an abrupt halt. Bottoms stated that all of these considerations are being considered by the President. “Face the Nation” is CBS’ Margaret Brennan’s CBS program.

These comments were made as Title 42, the Trump administration’s immigration policy that was implemented to address public health concerns in the COVID-19 pandemic, is due to expire on Wednesday. This raises new concerns about a border crisis.

El Paso, Texas’ border city, declared a state emergency to deal with an influx in asylum seekers, just days before Title 42’s expected ending.

Bottoms clarified that she could not speak to why the president didn’t visit the border but stated that it was “a bit more disruptive for him to travel” than it is for other Americans.

A White House advisor stressed that Biden is currently working on the matter from Oval Office.

“It was something he ran on, but what we know is that every single issue that the president has pursued over the past two-years, he has put resources and time into it. We know that immigration is not a problem he created. Bottoms stated that our issues regarding immigration have been a problem for decades and that he will continue to push the White House and Congress to achieve comprehensive reform.
