Axelrod to GOP strategists: If Biden is replaced, ‘you guys are in trouble’

David Axelrod, Democratic strategist, told GOP strategists at a panel discussion after the debate that the former president Trump would be “troubled” if he were to replace President Biden as the Democratic nominee.

Axelrod told CNN after the debate on Thursday that the candidate who appeared was not one who would inspire the people.

“He didn’t show in any way that his positive reputation has changed,”

Biden’s performance in the debate sparked fear among his own party. His voice was raspy, and he struggled to speak. After the debate, pundits and operators indicated that there were discussions about Biden stepping down before the election.

“I believe there was an element of shock at the way he started this debate. What his voice sounded like. He appeared a little disoriented. Axelrod told CNN that he did become stronger over the course of the debate. “I don’t think there will be any concrete results, but I’m sure you’ll hear some discussions on whether he should stay in the race.”

According to a White House official Biden was suffering from a cold at the time of the debate. His camp also defended him when questions were raised about his role as the leader of the Democratic ticket.

“President Biden was the only person to ever beat Donald Trump. He’ll do it again. Donald Trump gave voters no reason to vote him tonight. “On the issues, Americans are with Joe Biden,” said a Biden advisor.

CNN’s flash poll found that 67 percent of registered voters who watched the debate said Trump won and 33 percent said Biden won.
