CNN Anchor Pushes For Kamala To Do A Sit Down Interview: ‘Seems Like She Has The Time If She Wanted To’
CNN anchor John Berman questioned a Harris spokeswoman on Tuesday about the Democratic nominee’s schedule, as Harris was avoiding the media.
On Tuesday morning, Senior Spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod was joined by Berman to explain why Harris had not yet held a press conference nor conducted a major interview after becoming the Democratic presidential nominee.
Elrod asked Berman, “What is on the vice-president’s agenda today?”
Elrod replied, “Well, she is traveling, talking to voters, and spreading her message to the American public, something she has been doing since the beginning of this campaign.”

Berman replied, “But I asked about today.” “And I’m not sure she has any events scheduled today,” Berman replied.
“Well, she [and Governor Tim] Walz] have been travelling across the country,” Elrod replied. Elrod responded that they had visited nearly all battleground states last week. She said that Harris will be holding a campaign event in North Carolina on Friday.
“The reason I asked about today was because it seemed like she had time if she wanted an interview with media members or to hold a press conference, correct?” It does seem that she could do a news conference or an interview with a member of the media if she wanted.
The Harris campaign spokesperson said that the vice president had promised last week to conduct an interview with her “at some point”.
Elrod added, “What’s important, John, here is that she takes her message directly to Americans… and draws large crowds.” “So, she is actually having these direct conversations.”
“But not today.” Berman insisted, “She could interview her today.”
Elrod said that just because Elrod’s opponent doesn’t appear to be delivering her message directly to the voters, it doesn’t necessarily mean she isn’t.
Harris met with reporters briefly last week, before leaving Detroit. She said that she would schedule an “interview” by the end of this month. The vice president spent only two minutes answering questions from reporters outside Air Force 2.
Trump has criticized Harris for avoiding media coverage while he gave a major news conference last week, and sat for a virtual two-hour fireside chat on Monday with X owner Elon Musk.
Musk told Trump during their conversation: “It is sad to think that someone who does this as a profession can’t even answer a simple question, or is scared to give an interview.”
Harris and Trump will debate on ABC on the 10th of September. The Democratic nominee refused to agree to a Fox News interview scheduled for September 4, after Trump announced that he would be participating in the debate, along with a debate on NBC on September 25. Harris hasn’t said whether she will debate Trump after September 10.
