DHS’ Kristi Noem says Trump admin will resume construction of 7 miles of southern border wall

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has revealed plans to construct seven miles of new border wall in Arizona, aligning with the Trump administration’s commitment to “make America safe again.”

In a recent video shared on her X account, Noem highlighted the initiation of this new phase of border wall construction under the ongoing Trump administration. According to a press release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has awarded a contract exceeding $70 million to Granite Construction Co. This contract will facilitate the building of the new wall in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

Standing at the border in Arizona, Noem, dressed in CBP attire, stated, “Everybody, I’m here in Arizona, and right at this spot, you can see where the border wall ends. As of today, we’re starting 7 new miles of construction, we’re going to continue to make America safe again.”

The funding for the new construction will come from the CBP’s Fiscal Year 2021 budget, as per DHS statements.

Columbia lost $400 Million in federal funding for good reason; they’ve been coddling up to America’s enemies. And the progressive left shouldn’t be so shocked because they’ve been helping to fund those antisemitic protests on college campuses. In fact, we have proof. Watch it here and then Stand with the Coalition for Jewish Values so we can rebuild America’s moral foundation.

Former President Joe Biden had initially stopped all border wall constructions on his first day in office. However, construction on approximately 20 miles of border barriers in South Texas resumed in late 2023, utilizing funds previously appropriated by Congress during Trump’s first term. During Trump’s initial term, around 458 miles of primary and secondary barriers were constructed, some of which replaced older parts of the existing wall.

Vice President JD Vance, during a recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, expressed that President Trump aims to extend the border wall across every mile of the southern border by the end of his term in 2029. “I think the president’s hope is that by the end of the term we build the entire border wall,” Vance told reporters at a press conference. He also mentioned the potential integration of advanced technological tools and artificial intelligence to enhance border security.

According to Fox News’ Bill Melugin, the implementation of the border wall and other security measures has significantly reduced the number of illegal migrant “gotaways.” Estimates suggest a drop of up to 90% in successful illegal crossings since Trump assumed office. Melugin’s reports indicate that border agents are currently detecting an average of 77 “gotaways” per day, a stark contrast to the 1,800 per day reported during the peak of the immigration crisis under Biden.
