House Oversight Schedules First Biden Impeachment Hearing

The House Oversight Committee announced a date for its first hearing on the impeachment investigation against President Joe Biden.

The Daily Wire confirmed that the panel will take place on Thursday, 28 September.

The spokesperson said that the hearing would focus on constitutional and law questions surrounding the President’s involvement in corruption or abuse of office.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-CA, announced last Tuesday that the formal impeachment investigation against Biden was underway, a week after the House returned to session from its summer recess.

The speaker stated that Republicans had uncovered “serious, credible allegations” about President Biden’s conduct – a culture of corrupting.

Democrats in Congress have argued that the impeachment investigation is “illegitimate,” and a fishing expedition, while the White House set up a “warroom” and asked the media to help it fight the probe. Biden joked that he wished Republicans a lot of luck in their quest.

Recent Harvard University CAPS/Harris survey results showed that voters were divided 50/50 on whether the impeachment investigation was political motivated or raised legitimate concerns.

Biden is currently running a re-election campaign in 2024, which could set up a rematch of the general election against Donald Trump. Congress is working to reach an agreement over spending in advance of a potential government shutdown that could occur at the end this month.

McCarthy tasked Rep. James Comer, (R – KY) to lead the impeachment efforts with the assistance of Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R – OH) and Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R – MO).

Comer is focusing on the millions of dollars flowing from foreign sources into the Biden family.

Comer wrote in a message to X that “President Joe Biden played a central role in his family’s influence-peddling schemes with foreign organizations around the globe.”

The Daily Wire reported that the spokesperson for the Oversight Committee said his committee plans to subpoena Hunter Biden, son of the president and James Biden, personal and business banking records of the two men as soon as this week.

The committee spokesperson said that the Oversight Committee would continue to track the evidence and the money trail in order to deliver the transparency and accountability Americans expect from their government.
