Rep. Gill to Newsmax: Will Hold Activist Judges Accountable

Republican Congressman Criticizes Judge’s Overreach
During a recent interview on Newsmax, Rep. Brandon Gill, a Republican from Texas, expressed his concerns about the overreach of judicial authority, specifically targeting U.S. District Judge James Boasberg. Gill accused the judge of overstepping his bounds by halting the deportation of over 250 illegal immigrants suspected of gang affiliations.
Impeachment Proposal Against Judge Boasberg
Gill, who has been a vocal critic of what he perceives as judicial activism, previously introduced articles of impeachment against Judge Boasberg. This action came after Boasberg’s controversial decision to stop the deportation of individuals believed to be part of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, and to bring them back to the United States. “This is an activist, left-wing district court judge who decided to take it upon himself to act as commander in chief of the United States and demand that President Donald Trump bring a plane full of Aragua alien terrorists back into the United States,” Gill stated emphatically on “Newsline.” He added, “That is a blatant usurpation of the executive’s authority. I think that it does warrant impeachment, and I’ve been very clear about that for the past several weeks.”
Legislative Measures Against Judicial Activism
While the impeachment process may not advance, Rep. Gill mentioned other strategies to counteract what he and many conservatives see as judicial overreach. As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, Gill highlighted potential legislative actions, such as a bill that would prevent district court judges from issuing nationwide injunctions, thereby limiting their influence on federal policy.
National Security Concerns
Gill emphasized the severe implications of Judge Boasberg’s decision on national security. He argued that the judge’s actions not only undermine President Trump’s efforts to secure the nation but also endanger American lives. “It’s a serious matter of national security,” Gill remarked. “It is repelling an alien enemy invasion that President Trump is doing in getting these evil people out of our country, and he is trying to stop a duly elected president who received 77 million votes, largely on this very issue, from executing on his mandate. It’s unconstitutional, it’s wrong.”

Rep. Gill’s comments reflect a growing concern among conservatives regarding the perceived encroachment of the judiciary on the executive branch’s authority, particularly in matters of immigration and national security.
