SCOTUS Justice Sonia Sotomayor Compares Risks of Sex Changes for Minors to Aspirin

Sonia Sotomayor, a liberal-leaning Supreme Court justice, compared Wednesday the risks associated with puberty blockers for teens and sex-mutilating surgery on minors to those of Aspirin.

Sotomayor’s shocking comparison was made during oral arguments for United States v. Skrmetti. The case was brought by the Biden Administration to challenge Tennessee’s laws banning sex-change drugs and procedures that are performed on minors who think they are transgender.

“They can’t eliminate the risk of detransitioners. So it becomes a simple exercise of weighing risks versus benefits.” The question of how many children’s bodies must be irreparably damaged for benefits that are not proven is one best left to legislators, according to Matthew Rice, Tennessee’s Solicitor General.

“I’m sorry, counselor,” Sotomayor interjected. Every medical treatment comes with a risk, even Aspirin. “There will always be a small percentage of people who are adversely affected by any medical treatment.”

The Center for Restoring Values believes there is a solution to this paradigm – the veneration of this CEO murderer—by restoring the Biblical foundation back into the lives of our children. We have failed to teach the timeless truths of responsibility, forgiveness, and hope. Instead, we’ve allowed others to promote moral relativism. Will you help us save the next generation before it’s too late?

Mayo Clinic states that no studies have been done to determine the effect of age on aspirin extended release capsules for children. Aspirin can be prescribed as a painkiller and to reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks in patients at high-risk. Mayo Clinic explains that the drug can cause dozens of side effects. Some require medical attention while others are milder.

Side effects of sex-change drugs and procedures include irreversible mutilation, infertility and facial feminization and masculinization. These so-called treatments can include double mastectomy (the removal and mutilation of healthy breasts), male and female genital mutilation, facial feminization, masculinization, hormonal treatments, and even puberty blockers which may cause chemical sterilization. According to Mayo Clinic, puberty can have a long-term effect on bone growth, bone densities, and growth spurts.

Transgender activists claim that sex-mutilating medications and procedures are used to reduce suicides in minors. This is a questionable claim, which has become increasingly untrue with the increasing number of studies and data.

According to other research, most children who feel confused about their sexuality will grow out of it by the time they are adults. European countries, which pushed for sex-change drugs and surgery on minors long before the United States, are now reversing their course due to concerns over long-term effects.

The top-down pressure in the United States to get minors to receive sex-mutilating medications and surgeries, under the false label “gender affirming care”, is evident. This push comes from the White House of President Joe Biden, academics, hospitals and other major medical organizations.

These actors, and the spread of gender ideologies on social media, promote the false notion that humans can be different sexes than what they are born to be. The gender ideology complex goes on to say that these people should get sex change drugs or undergo sex change procedures in order to match their appearance with what they feel inside.

The push for transgenderism has a strong ideological component. However, a December 2020 report found that the U.S. market for sex reassignment surgeries was valued at $267 in 2019. It is also expected to grow at a rate of 14.4 percent per year from 2020 to 2027.

The Biden administration asked the Supreme Court in the end to overturn a decision from the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Ohio. Circuit Court of Appeals affirms Tennessee’s law that protects minors against sex-mutilating surgeries and drugs.

This is a relatively recent diagnosis, with the care approach changing over the past decade or so. In these circumstances, no one can be certain about the long-term effects of abandoning any age limit for these treatments. Chief Judge Jeffrey Sutton and Judge Amul Thapar wrote the 6th Circuit.

The Supreme Court’s ruling on the issue of “gender affirming care” and parental rights will have a wide-ranging impact, as almost half of all states in the United States have passed laws that prohibit minors from receiving transgender drugs or surgeries.

United States v. Skrmetti is the case. The Supreme Court of the United States has decided the case 23-477.
