Washington To Allow Children to Be Legally Taken From Parents If They Don’t Consent to Gender Transition
Washington State passed a law that allows parents to legally remove their children from them if they refuse to consent to gender-transition procedures for their child.
Senate Bill 5599 allows shelters to contact the Department of Children, Youth, and Families, instead of parents, for minors who are seeking services related to reproductive health or gender affirming care.
The proposal would allow for a more “compelling” reason to hide a child seeking sex-change operations or reproductive services, such as abortion.
Tana Senn, a Democratic State Rep. from California, praised the passage of the bill. She said she supported children who feel they belong to a body other than their own.
Senn stated, “I tell them tonight that I see, affirm, hear, and love you.” “Washington State has also endorsed this bill.”
The state, led by Democrats, received a lot of backlash after passing this radical bill. They called it a Leftist attack on parents and families.
John Braun, the Republican leader of the State Senate, said that the legislation was “dangerous” because it “clears the path” for children to “game” the system by taking away parents’ God-given parental rights.
Braun stated that SB 5599 could cause harm to vulnerable children by creating a wedge between them and their parents at a time where teens lack the judgment and perception needed to make life-altering choices. “A parent might not know the reason why their child fled and may involve law enforcement, or other groups, in a desperate hunt… while experiencing an emotional nightmare as they imagine the worst possible outcome.”
Braun also said that the brains of children are not fully formed until they reach 22 years old. This means that Democrats are encouraging minors to make life-altering decisions that they might regret later.
Braun added, “Right away, [Democrats] sponsor a bill on juvenile offender sentencing based on the ‘extensive body of scientific evidence on brain development’ which shows that adolescents’ judgment, perception and decision-making abilities differ significantly from those of adults.”
