Proud to stand with Israel, Hamas should be called terrorists: Rishi Sunak

Sunak said that he told Isaac Herzog, the Israeli president, that the UK stands in solidarity with Israel when the two met on Thursday. Sunak also added that it is important to provide human aid to the Gazan people.

UK Prime Minister Rishi sunak expressed his support for Israel. He said that Israel has the right, in accordance with international law, to defend itself and go after Hamas, to return hostages, to deter future incursions, and to strengthen its security.

Sunak, in a joint press conference with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said in Tel Aviv: “We support Israel’s rights to defend itself in accordance with international law, and to pursue Hamas in order to recover hostages, prevent further incursions, and strengthen your security on the long-term.”

I want to thank all of you for your unwavering, solidaristic support since the beginning of this war. “I think that the fact that you were in Israel makes this happen a lot. I told President Biden yesterday there was one thing more heartwarming that standing with Israel, and that is standing inside Israel.”

Sunak also stressed the importance of providing humanitarian aid to Gazans.

Sunak visited families of those killed by Hamas militants or held as hostages. “To lose a child is the worst nightmare of a parent. This morning, I heard stories of families who were going through an unbearable ordeal. We’re determined, working with our partners to secure the freedom of hostages held by Hamas terrorists,” he wrote in a post for X.
