On Friday, bus drivers with the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District in Delaware County, Pennsylvania were informed that they had to remove any Christmas-themed decorations on their buses and were prohibited from wearing clothing referring to any religious holiday.

Fox 29 obtained a memo that stated the district had received complaints from parents about District employees wearing or displaying Christmas-themed clothing and/or displaying decorations.

Please remove any decorations that are specific to Christmas or to a particular religion from your bus immediately. Employees are also instructed to not wear clothing that is related to Christmas, or any other religious holidays.

The memo states at the end of the document that the policy does not apply to a specific department but “all District employees.”

Users criticized the district’s policy after the memo was shared on social media. Meg Brock, a parent rights advocate, asked: “Did the district also tell them to not smile?”

One user noted that “Nobody complains about their Hate Has No Home Here signs, BLM signs, pride flags.” God forbid that bus drivers decorate their vehicles with Christmas decorations.

The District issued a statement in response to the outlet saying that holiday displays were not prohibited, but that staff should create an inclusive environment.

California Governor. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat from Sacramento, canceled the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Sacramento because an anti-Israel demonstration was planned. The event was held, but only live streaming allowed viewers to view it.

The ceremony will be held virtually this year, as protests continue to impact the safety of events at all levels and the security of participants and guests, including children and their families.
