Florida GOP chairman suspended by party vote amid rape allegation and threesome sex scandal

Ziegler’s accusation comes after he was accused of rape in a previous threesome involving his wife Bridget Ziegler and a woman with whom he had previously been involved.

Michael Thompson, Chairman of the Lee County Republican Executive Committee, tweeted: “Ziegler trying to defend himself on a soapbox is not working.”

In a motion of censure, Ziegler was accused of “conduct that renders him ineligible to continue as Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.”

Thompson announced on X a few minutes later, on Sunday: “Motion suspending Zieglers’ authority passes.”

Ziegler’s attorney and Ziegler did not respond immediately to BI’s Sunday request for comments. Sarasota Police Department continues to investigate the allegation and Ziegler is not charged with any crime.

After a threesome with the Zieglers, and an unnamed female, the trio set up a second date, but when the woman found out Bridget Ziegler was unable to attend, she canceled, BI reported. The Washington Post reported that the woman told Sarasota Police Department Christian Ziegler assaulted her at her apartment. Ziegler denies the allegation, saying that the encounter was consensual.

Bridget Ziegler was also under pressure to resign as a member of the Sarasota County Board of Education, but she refused to do so. She no longer works for Moms for Liberty but the “parental right” group that she co-founded, which she founded, has vocally opposed allowing books or conversations in schools to discuss gender, sexuality or LGBTQ issues.

The Southern Poverty Law Center considers Moms for Liberty an extremist group. They claim that the group “spreads hateful imagery and racial rhetoric against the LGBTQ Community.”
