According to Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner, the Houston Police Department has suspended 264,000 criminal cases since 2016. This includes more than 4,500 sex abuse cases. The reason given was a code based on “lack personnel”.

“Am I proud of this?” Finner told Fox 26 Houston that he was angry because he knew they were better and would make things right. “We’re still short of officers and some say we need 2,000 more, so we try our best, but it is not enough if we don’t investigate sexual assaults,” said Finner.
