Trump at Slain NYPD Officer Diller’s Wake: America Must Restore ‘Law and Order’

The former president Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday that it was an “honor” to attend the funeral of the slain New York City police officer Jonathan Diller and said the United States had to “get back to order”.

Joe Biden, meanwhile, skipped Diller’s wake to attend a glamorous fundraiser in New York City, which included former presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and celebrities. The “three stooges,” or as Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung referred to them in a Breitbart News statement, did not attend Diller’s funeral.

Trump briefly spoke to reporters after attending Diller’s wake, where he was shot dead below his bulletproof vest during a traffic stop, on Monday. He also met with his family including Diller’s widow Stephanie.

Trump said, “We’re not going to allow this to happen. It’s a terrible thing that happens all too often.

Breitbart News reports that authorities have identified Guy Rivera as Diller’s gunman. ABC News reports that Rivera’s rap sheet includes 21 arrests.

He said, “The police is the best thing we have. There’s nothing and nobody like them.”

“I visited a beautiful wife who is now without her husband. Stephanie was amazing. Trump said that their child was a brand-new, beautiful baby, sitting there, innocent as possible and unaware of how his life had been altered.

Trump said that the United States had to restore “law” and “order” and emphasized that it was an “honor for him” to pay respect to Diller’s family.

Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County Executive (R), thanked Trump for his attendance at the wake. He said that he had been a comfort to the family during this time of tragedy.

It was comforting to them. It was warm and the people felt very… fortunate to have someone who cared, who spent so much time with the family and was again a great comfort to this family during the probably most difficult time they’ve ever experienced.

Blakeman said, “We will help raise” Ryan Diller’s child, “because he is only one year old, and he will grow up without his father, but he has thousands of dads who are going to look after him.”
