US will send Ukraine $725 million more in counter-drone systems, anti-personnel land mines

The U.S. prepares to send Ukraine $725 million more in military assistance. This includes counter-drone system and munitions to its High Mobility Artillery Rocket System.

Although it was not clear if the munitions used in the HIMARS were the coveted ATACMS – the Army Tactical Missile System – Ukraine had been pushing for more missiles with longer ranges to hit additional targets within Russia.

The State Department announced the package on Monday. It also included more anti-personnel mines, which Ukraine relies upon to slow down Russian and North Korean forces in the Russian region of Kursk.

The President Joe Biden pledged that he would spend the entire amount of military assistance funds Congress approved for Ukraine this year before his term ends on January 20. This included $7.1 billion worth of weapons from the Pentagon stockpiles.
