Kari Lake thanks Liz Cheney for ‘anti-endorsement’

Kari Lake (the Republican nominee for governor in Arizona) mockingly thanked Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo. For her “anti-endorsement,” she said that it was having the opposite effect of what she intended.

On Friday, Cheney launched a new advertisement in Arizona that targeted Lake and Mark Finchem (the GOP nominee for secretary-of-state). Both of them have doubted the legitimacy of President Biden’s win in 2020.

Lake wrote Cheney a letter saying that her campaign donations have “skyrocketed” and that her website nearly crashed due to traffic.

“In fact, my team told me that your commercial should increase our lead by 10 points! Lake stated that they call Cheney anti-endorsement “the gift that keeps giving”.

“Thanks again for your tremendous support of our campaign!” Enjoy your forced retirement,” Lake said, referring specifically to Cheney’s defeat to a Trump-backed candidate. “I am certain America will feel more at peace knowing that one more warlord is out of power.”

In the race to be governor, Lake will face Katie Hobbs (Democratic Secretary of State). Although polling has been consistent throughout the campaign, the latest polls show Lake leading by a few points.

Cheney’s ad will be broadcast by her leadership PAC Great Task PAC on broadcast, online, and streaming platforms.

She is open to supporting certain Republicans’ candidacies, and she endorsed Democratic Rep. Elissa slotkin for reelection to her House Seat in Michigan.
