Thousands of blue state residents flock to Idaho, bringing conservative politics with them

The Gem State has published voter data showing that thousands of Washington residents with conservative leanings fled to Idaho.

Idaho Secretary of state’s data shows that 65% of those who have recently moved into the state are Republicans. Only 12% of them are Democrats.

Fox News Digital reviewed the data and found that 62% of Americans who moved from Washington to Idaho were registered Republicans. This is higher than the overall percentage of Republicans in Idaho.

“We were not surprised that Republicans are moving into Idaho. We were, however, surprised by the sheer number of people moving to Idaho. “Of those who are moving to Idaho, a majority of voters in 48 of the other 49 states are Republican,” Republican Idaho secretary of state Phil McGrane said on Fox News Digital.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Idaho’s strong economy, its business-friendly climate, and its conservative values would attract conservatives. Idaho is a popular destination for people who value the quality of life and values that make up our state,” McGrane said.

Data shows that since the pandemic, residents of some expensive, liberal states such as California and New York have fled to other states, like Florida and Texas. There are concerns and speculations that the state migration patterns could result in blue state residents bringing their political views to red state.

Idaho’s data shows that right-leaning blue state voters are moving to Idaho, a similar political environment. Idaho Republicans are in control of both chambers of legislature, the offices of governor and secretary of state.

The Seattle Times reported that ads for real estate in Washington and other states encourage residents to move to Idaho to “escape the liberal hell”.

The outlet reported that another advertisement for a property listing in Idaho stated, “Time is on your side. Flee the city now before the coming collapse!”

The voter data shows that Republican Californians are also fleeing to Idaho.

Fox News Digital has reviewed the data and found that 75% of those who moved from California to Idaho registered as Republicans. Only 10% of California’s pool registered as Democrats. 14% were unaffiliated, and 2% were “other.”

California is the poster state for migration. More than 340,000 residents left the state from 2021 to 2022. Since the pandemic began, a few celebrities and businesses have also fled to California, including Rod Stewart’s Tesla, Hillary Swank’s Hollywood, and Elon Musk’s Tesla.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that before the pandemic California lost on average less than 200,000 residents per year.

Idaho voter data also revealed that the majority of Americans, who had moved from Oregon into the Gem State, were registered Republicans. In the last few years, just over 9,000 Oregonians have moved to Idaho. 65% are registered Republicans, 14% Democrats, and 19% unaffiliated.

Many who fled liberal states like California and Washington cite escalating crime, high taxes, rampant drugs use, and strict pandemic restrictions when they were locked down.
