AOC cries ‘fascism’ as Republicans advance parents bill of rights

Thursday’s House Democrats protested a GOP bill regarding parental rights. They claimed that the bill was fascist, and would result in book bans.

On Thursday afternoon, House Democrats made a series of floor speeches accusing their Republican counterparts of wanting to ban books and stop children learning about the holocaust as well as gay and transgender topics. The House then began a heated debate on HR 5, or the Parents Bill of Rights.

Rep. Julia Letlow (R.LA) sponsored the bill. It would require public school districts to make their curriculum materials available to parents and mandate parental consent to participate in student surveys. It also prohibits schools from selling student data “for financial or commercial gain.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffreys (D-NY), stated that “Extreme MAGA Republicans don’t want the American children to learn about Holocaust,” on the House floor. “They want to ban Melissa, a book that describes in very personal terms how a trans girl begins to understand herself… What’s so offensive? Extreme MaGA Republicans don’t want your child learning about the LGBTQ+ experience here in America. This is not the right decision for extreme MAGA Republicans in Congress.

We’re seeing history repeat itself once again where Jews are being chased into hiding like they were upon leaving Egypt. So, it’s fitting that in this Passover celebration, we unite to fight back against the pro-Hamas, anti-Israel left seeking to harm us. Will you be an Ambassador for Freedom and help the Coalition for Jewish Values fight back against those wishing harm on Bible-believing Americans?

Liberal firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY), likewise attacked Republicans, saying that people wanted them to “keep culture warfare out of classrooms.”

The congresswoman stated that children require urgent and aggressive education solutions. “When we speak about progressive values, my progressive value is freedom over fascism,” she said.

On Thursday night, the House will begin to vote on several amendments. The bill will be passed in its final form on Friday.
