Biden assails Project 2025, a plan to transform government, and Trump’s claim to be unaware of it
Donald Trump distanced himself from Project 2025. The program was drafted by former officials and long-time allies of his, who were also members of his administration. This came just days after the director of the think tank that drafted the plan suggested a second American Revolution.
Trump wrote on his social media site, “I don’t know anything about Project 2025.” I have no idea what’s behind it. I don’t agree with everything they say, and some things are ridiculous. “I wish them good luck in whatever they do. But I am not involved with them.”
The plan, which is 922-pages long, outlines an expansion of presidential powers and a plan for firing up to 50,000 government employees to replace them by Trump supporters. The reelection bid of President Joe Biden has been working to bring more attention to this agenda, especially as Biden is trying to keep Democrats on board following his disastrous debate.
Biden, in a statement issued by Trump’s campaign on Saturday, said that Trump was trying to conceal his connections with his allies’ Project 2025 extreme agenda. “The only issue? The people closest to him wrote it for him. Project 2025 is a nightmare for every American.
Trump has laid out his own plans for a new government, if he is elected to a second term. These include staging the largest deportation campaign in U.S. History and imposing tariffs against all imports. His campaign has previously warned outside allies not to presume to speak for the former president and suggested their transition-in-waiting efforts were unhelpful.
Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation, said in Steve Bannon’s podcast “War Room”, which aired Tuesday on the “War Room” podcast. Former U.S. Rep. Dave Brat hosted the show while Bannon was serving a 4-month prison sentence.
Roberts stated, “We are currently in the second American Revolution. It will be bloodless as long as the left permits it.”
These comments were widely shared online, and Biden’s presidential campaign slammed them for accusing Trump and his supporters of “dreaming of violent revolutions to destroy the idea of America itself.”
Project 2025 is a project that includes former officials from the Obama administration. Paul Dans is the project’s director. He was chief of staff of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management during Trump’s tenure. Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign spokesperson, was featured in a video for Project 2025.
John McEntee is a senior advisor. He was the former director of White House Presidential Personnel Office during the Trump administration. McEntee said to The Daily Wire, a conservative news website, earlier this year that Project 2025 would integrate much of its work into the campaign once Trump announced his transition team.
Trump’s comments about Project 2025 comes before the Republican Party meetings in this week, when they begin to draft their party platform.
Project 2025 is preparing a 180-day plan for the next administration, which it will share in private rather than publish as part of a book of priorities aimed at a Republican President. Russ Vought is a key Trump ally who is on the Republican National Committee platform writing committee. He is working with Project 2025 to draft this final pillar.
Project 2025 stated in a press release that it was not linked to any candidate or campaign.
It said: “We are a group of over 110 conservative groups that advocate policy and personnel suggestions for the next conservative President.” “But ultimately, it’s up to the president who, we think, will be Donald Trump, to decide what recommendations to implement.”
Biden’s campaign spokesperson confirmed that Project 2025 staffers are also responsible for the Republican platform. Ammar Moussa said that Project 2025 was the playbook of extreme policies and personnel for Trump’s second-term. It should be a source of fear to the American public.
The president’s campaign shared a photo from “The Handmaid’s Tale”, a dystopian television drama, showing a group in red dresses with white hats, standing in formation near a reflecting pool. A cross was placed at the other end, where the Washington Monument would be. The story is about women who have their identities stripped and are forced to give children to other couples under a totalitarian government.
The post stated that “Fourth July under Trump’s Project 2025” was the title.
