Kristi Noem, South Dakota Governor, is seeking answers about how federal agencies made her personal information public after Jan. 6 record releases. Also, how these agencies plan on preventing this from happening again.

“My lawyers have asked @WhiteHouse, @USNatArchives and @BennieGThompson who is responsible for leaking my Social Security Numbers. This was after Noem’s tweet on Friday evening. “What are the specific steps and remedies that will be taken to protect our identities?”

Noem discovered that her Social Security Number and the Social Security numbers of her immediate family members were leaked by Jan. 6, the night before she took the oath to office for her second term.

“A spreadsheet with almost 2,000 Social Security numbers associated to visitors to the White House December 2020” was one of hundreds of records that the committee posted online. It included several prominent Republicans.

Noem, her husband, three kids, and her son-in law were all part of the leak. They visited Donald Trump’s home on December 14, 2020, according to White House logs. Noem said that she visited in an “official capacity”.

Noem’s legal department has now sent a letter requesting more information on how the breach occurred.

These visitors logs were produced by the National Archives, and became exhibits at the January 6 Committee hearing. Before being published as exhibits the law required that Protected Personal Information (PPI) be removed from visitor logs. However, that was not done by Noem’s legal team of Woods and Fuller in a letter to The U.S. Government Publishing Office, The National Archives and Records Administration and the Chair of Jan. 6 Special Committee.

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House, Government Publishing Office and National Archives for clarification.

Noem’s family was “now at very high risk of identity theft” and being compromised by the failure to redact social security numbers. The letters were also made available to the public.

The letter also stated that publishing this information violates the Privacy Act of 1974 and opened the door to further action. Noem’s lawyers provided a Jan. 13 deadline to receive a reply from the parties.

Other high-profile figures included in the leak include Texas Governor. Greg Abbott (R), South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R), ex-Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and former Housing and Urban Development Sec Secretary Ben Carson.
