McCarthy-aligned group running ads against Republicans who triggered his speaker ouster
In several districts, the American Prosperity Alliance (a nonprofit that does not have to reveal its donors) is running a TV advertisement focusing on immigration.
A group of politicians with ties to the former Speaker Kevin McCarthy has gone on air and attacked some Republicans who removed him from his leadership position.
The American Prosperity Alliance is a nonprofit that does not have to reveal its donors. They are running a TV ad on immigration in several districts. This includes those of Reps. Bob Good, Eli Crane, and Nancy Mace, who all represent the same district where McCarthy was ousted last year.
Brian O. Walsh is a senior advisor to the group. He has been a McCarthy ally for many years. Walsh leads an effort, funded by McCarthy’s allies, to beat the eight House Republicans that joined Democrats in removing him as speaker. Some of these members have already declared their intention to retire. Good, Crane and Mace will be the main targets for reelection.

The 30-second spot by the American Prosperity Alliance takes aim at Crane, accusing him of voting “against our border security”, and refusing to fund border agents, ICE or a border wall. The 30-second TV spot urges constituents call their representative and urge him to alter course.
Good faces a primary opponent in Virginia state senator John McGuire. Mace, who was a candidate for governor in South Carolina, will face Catherine Templeton. Crane, who was the only freshman to vote against McCarthy in Arizona, will take on former Yavapai county supervisor Jack Smith. The Congressional Leadership Fund, the House GOP Campaign arm and Crane, the lone freshman to vote against McCarthy in Arizona will face former Yavapai County Supervisor Jack Smith.
McCarthy’s allies are likely to use this as an opening salvo. The seven-figure purchase will be made in 12 districts, but some will only see digital ads and others will only see TV ads. This list includes the seats of Andy Biggs, Matt Gaetz, Tim Burchett and Matt Cartwright.
According to AdImpact’s media tracking data, in the second half April alone, the American Prosperity Alliance spent almost $330,000 on Mace, $160,000 on Good, approximately $218,000 on Crane, and $150,000 for Kaptur.
