Trump to reinstate service members discharged for not getting COVID-19 vaccine

All service members are entitled to back pay.

According to the White House, President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order that will reinstate servicemen who were kicked out of the military because they refused to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.

According to a White House fact sheet, “the Executive Order directs Secretary of Defense to reinstate members of the Military (active and Reserve) who have been discharged because they refused the COVID vaccination and request to be reinstated.”

According to the factsheet, those who are reinstated to service will receive their previous rank and back pay, as well as benefits.

Don’t let Senate Republicans kill the Trump Agenda

Why do Senate Republicans make the rest of the GOP worry every time Congress has a fight over major legislation? They rarely seem to remember that they were elected to protect individual rights, cut spending and limit government overreach. Fortunately, we have our Top Defenders of Liberty leading the way, like:

  • Rand Paul,
  • Mike Lee, and
  • Ron Johnson.

Unfortunately, there’s still many others in the U.S. Senate who earned a low score in our Liberty Index, and they need to hear from you.

Will you join our efforts to ensure the U.S. Senate passes Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” without compromises or interference from Senate RINOS?

The fact sheet states that from 2021 to 2023 the Biden Administration, and the former Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, discharged more than 8,000 soldiers solely because they were not COVID-19 vaccinated. After the repeal of the mandate in 2023, only 42 of the over 8,000 soldiers who were dismissed chose to return to the service under the Biden administration and Secretary Austin.

Trump promised to take action during his inaugural speech.

The president said in a statement on Jan. 20, “I will restore any service member who was unjustly dismissed from our military because they objected to the COVID vaccination mandate with their full back pay.”

Trump said in a speech during his campaign last year that he would rehire military personnel who had been dismissed because of the COVID-19 mandate. He also promised them their pay back plus an apology by the government.

Since taking office last Monday, the newly-inaugurated president has signed a number of orders.

On Monday, he will have completed his first week in office after his inauguration.
