Biden administration pressured Amazon to censor books that questioned COVID vaccines

During the peak of the pandemic, senior Biden administration officials summoned Amazon representatives to the White House to discuss “propaganda” and “misinformation” found in books available for purchase on Amazon’s website which questioned the safety of COVID-19 vaccinations.

White House officials “spent one week berating Amazon in March 2021” over books related “to vaccine misinformation.” They asked what steps the company could take to “reduce the visibility of these title,” according to emails from Amazon released by House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican.

Andy Slavitt’s Amazon pressure campaign, which he led as Mr. Biden’s senior advisor on the COVID-19 taskforce, seems to have been a success.

Amazon implemented a policy of “do no promote” for anti-vax books that are primarily designed to convince readers that vaccines are ineffective or unsafe. This was on March 9th.

The White House also opposed policies that would “reduce visibility” for other COVID related books.

The emails revealed that Amazon officials were not only concerned about the White House. Emails sent by Amazon flagged “negative stories” from BuzzFeed News, which no longer exists. The emails highlighted books on Amazon for sale that questioned vaccinations.

Amazon responded swiftly when Biden’s top advisers contacted the company about books that were problematically sold on their site.

White House officials have flagged a book written in 2019 by Vernon Coleman entitled “Anyone who tells you Vaccines are safe and effective is lying.”

White House officials including Mr. Slavitt discovered the title in an Amazon search. He immediately wrote to top Amazon executives.

“If you do a search under books for the word ‘vaccines,’ I can see what appears,” wrote Mr. Slavitt to Amazon’s executive. “I haven’t looked past that, but it is concerning if this is what I see on the surface.”

Amazon officials stated in an email of March 12, 2021 that the company felt “pressure from the White House Taskforce”, to reduce the visibility and sales of books which questioned vaccines.

Amazon wanted to know if White House officials “asked us to remove books or were they more concerned with search results/order? !”

Mr. Jordan stated that the Judiciary committee and the Judiciary Subcommittee Investigating the Weaponization of Government will investigate this matter.

Jordan stated that Amazon had caved in to pressure from the Biden White House, which was attempting to censor speech.

The name of Mr. Slavitt has been used in other attempts to censor social networks.

In court documents published in July, it was revealed that Mr. Slavitt, along with other White House officials, used Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to remove content and ban users who they did not like. Mr. Slavitt intensified the effort by threatening social media platforms with federal actions.

Mr. Slavitt played a part in forcing Twitter to remove Alex Berenson’s account, a former New York Times journalist who had posted concerns, questions and research regarding the side effects of mRNA-based vaccinations and their low efficacy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continue to promote COVID-19, but officials admit that it doesn’t prevent illness or spread of the virus. Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart) is a known complication, particularly in young men and adolescents.

Dr. Coleman is the author of this book, which was flagged by Mr. Slavitt. He currently sells on Amazon dozens of books related to health, including some that question traditional medicine and vaccinations.

He describes himself as an ex-doctor in the United Kingdom, who has sold over 2 million books. “He has campaigned on many issues that involve both people and animals. As a result, he has made enemies among powerful groups defending drug and food company interests.”

Mr. Slavitt has announced that he will be leaving the White House by June 2021.
