Trump’s V.P. search believed to be zeroing in on a trio of senators

According to a GOP Strategist with close ties in the campaign, President Trump has narrowed his choices for running mates this November. He is focusing on three young U.S. Senators.

Sens. Katie Britt from Alabama, J.D. Ryan Girdusky is a conservative blogger and GOP strategist. He said that Vance from Ohio and Marco Rubio from Florida are two of the most likely candidates.

South Dakota Governor Kristi. Nom, Sen. Tim Scott from South Carolina, Arizona Senate Candidate Kari Lake or his former Press Secretary Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or Mr. Trump’s recent GOP primary rival, Nikki Haley are not considered.

“He tells many people that they are on the list.” “But I’ve been told with confidence by top-level people that they weren’t on the list – that the list was just these three,” said Mr. Girdusky.

The choice of VP could be the most important decision made by the former President.

Mr. Trump can only serve one term. If Mr. Trump wins the November election, whoever he chooses to be his running mate has the best chances of becoming the Republican candidate in the 2028 Presidential race.

The campaign team of Mr. Trump dismissed the claim.

Chris LaCivita said, “That’s trash”, a senior adviser for the Trump campaign. Anyone who says they heard or know something is a liar.

Others connected with the Trump campaign said that Mr. Girdusky’s shortlist is logical.

Ms. Britt is 42 years old and has been in office since 2023, but her star continues to rise. Her intelligence, good looks and understanding of the Senate made her a popular choice for the Trump team. She was formerly an aide to retired Senator Richard Shelby.

She was chosen by Republican leaders to give the GOP response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address. Britt is a popular choice because of her conservative, clean image and her family. She’s married to Wesley Britt, a former NFL player.

A person with ties to the Trump campaign stated that Mr. Trump “will pay very close attention” to her performance on Thursday and to the response of the public to her debut at the national level.

The person stated that Britt has always been a candidate who had a “good, dark horse shot” of being chosen as Trump’s running partner. The office of Ms. Britt did not respond to a request for comment.

Rubio, who is 52 years old, has been Mr. Trump’s favorite for a long time. Those connected with the campaign claim that the former president wanted Rubio as his running mate for 2016. Mr. Rubio, at the time of the alleged rejection, reportedly declined an invitation to discuss this.

Rubio, who was once a Trump critic before, has long since become a staunch supporter of the former president and stated that he would back him for a second-term as early as 2021.

In January, he endorsed Trump while ignoring Florida Governor. Ron DeSantis was still running in the GOP primary at the time.

If Mr. Rubio is chosen, his parents are Cuban immigrants who came to the United States. This would put a Hispanic candidate on the ticket, as Mr. Trump tries to sway minority voters away from Mr. Biden.

The Constitution does not allow the Electoral College to vote for a vice president and president of the same state even though it is legal.

Mr. Rubio said that he was not interested in becoming vice president.

Mr. Vance and Ms. Britt, both 39 years old, will take office in 2023. He was a vocal Trump critic in 2016 but has now fully embraced MAGA and is a staunch ally of Mr. Trump.

Vance said that he was not interested in being the Vice President, but would make a great choice for Trump. Both are ideologically aligned with populist conservatism. Vance went further than other Republicans to defend Mr. Trump’s efforts to prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.

“If I were vice president, then I would have told states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and many others that we need multiple slates electors, and I believe the U.S. Congress could have taken it up from there,” said Mr. Vance to ABC News in a recent interview.

After the 2020 elections, other candidates for vice president were more cautious about Mr. Trump’s behavior. This has also led to state and federal charges being filed in courts.

Former President Scott is said to have been unhappy with Mr. Scott’s statement that Mr. Pence did “absolutely the right thing” when he certified Mr. Biden’s election and ignored Mr. Trump’s request that he block the vote.

According to Mr. Girdusky Mr. Trump is less excited about Ms. Sanders, because she publicly supported his presidential campaign in Novembre — eight months after Mr. Trump asked for her endorsement.

Mr. Girdusky believes that Mr. Trump is likely to choose Mr. Vance as his running mate. This prediction has been made by many political strategists. The aides of Mr. Vance declined to comment.

In an interview with Fox News, Mr. Trump stated that whoever he chooses would not have any impact on the race. Many expect him to wait until the Republican National Convention, in July, before announcing his pick.

Mr. Trump stated that “it’s never had that much an impact on an election.”
